The institution “KALAGHAR” was established on 2nd June, 1984, by past Cultural Director Shri Kamlakar Sontakke and Great writer and Padmabhushan honourary late Shri Vijay Tendulkar at Sahitya Sangh Mandir and the famous play “Kavita Natya Don Mitra” was enacted.
For the past 27 years, Kalaghar has been organizing various forms of acting workshops in the field of education and personality development and performing plays for children and adults. More than 100 plays in Hindi and Marathi have been performed in various halls and auditoriums in Mumbai including Prithvi Theatre, NCPA , Gadkari Rangayatan Thane, Dinanath Mangeshkar Natya Mandir, Vile Parle and etc
Ramnath Tharwal have been working for the last 37 years in the Marathi Theatre and 17 years in Hindi Theatre Industry .

He observed that creativity among people is limited and needs training to develop it. He even worked for slum children who normally don’t get opportunity to see the children plays due to their circumstances.
