RAMNATH THARWAL’S SINGLE HANDED MISSION

Ramnath Tharwal is a able Writer, Director, Actor who has been working on Marathi Theatre since 37 years and Hindi Theatre since 17 year Jaya Bachchan, Ramesh Sippy, Sulbha Deshpande and Padmini Kolhapure. Today, Members of his acting workshop are shining in Films, dramas, Serials and Ad-Films. With his versatile personality and a great sence of teaching he has developed a unique way of conducting workshops

His students from a wide range of 4 years to 50 years… what doesn’t though, is his liking for his disciples .Mumbai Theatre consists of professional, amateur, experimental and even children’s theatre movement. Chhabildas Theatre’ Dadar, has given opportunities to young talented artistes to prove their creative capabilities. ‘Ramnath Tharwal’ is one such theatre personality who started his career by getting involved in experimental plays and thereafter dedicated his life for children’s theatre in Hindi & Marathi for last 37 years.

Mr. Tharwal exposed his acting talent as well as set-desgining skills through ‘ Unmesh’ and subsequently with the Aavishkar "‘Chandrashala’ presents Aala Adanyacha Gaada" for 7 years. He worked with Achyut Vaze for Unmesh experimental group, with Rekha Sabnis for ‘Abhivyakti’ for 10 years and with Aavishkar – Arvind & Sulabha Deshpande. In 1981, he got the job opportunity to work in ‘Balbhavan’ – notable Government performing Arts Centrs – for providing art & cultural opportunities to the children. He started ‘Interschool Play Reading Competition’ there which10year was a huge hit amongst students. After working in Balbhavan for almost 10 years, he then moved to Hindi arena and established himself - particularly in Prithvi Theatre, as he had ambitions to do something creative in the unexposed field of theatre – Children’s Theatre. Since then, he has been conducting acting workshops for children for many years. ‘Summer Workshops at Prithvi’ are still popular.coundcted by sanjna kapoor.   He found that creativity is unlimited or abundant in a child with the age group of say 4 to 14 and 15 to above . He even worked for slum children who normally don’t get opportunity to see the children plays due to their circumstances He also worked at slum area at Nagpada, Kamathipura, Neighbour house & Asmita Cultural Foundation Vakola Pipeline Municipal School, Mumbai for 3 years..

In 1974, “Khajinyachi Vihir’, a two-act adult’s play gave him ‘Best Director’ award at Maharashtra State Level drama competition & Abhivyakti production a ‘Best Production’ award. He has also acted with Mr.Shriram Lagu in his Marathi play – ‘Antigony’. He had shown his acting talent in his Marathi play – Laagal Tar Ghoda Nahi Tar Zebra’ – directed by Arvind Deshpande. He has delivered many ‘ House Full’ performances alongside Nana Patekar in a children’s play – Aala Adanyacha Gaada’ - directed by Sulbha Deshpande. He also played major role along with Ms.Swati Chitnis in “Theatre Units and Aavishkar presents ‘Aur Tota Bola’ directed by ‘Pandit Satyadev Dubey.” He won many accolades while playing a major role in Marathi play directed by Ms.Rekha Sabnis. This role was earlier portrayed by veteran actor Amrish Puri in a Hindi play – ‘No Exit’. He has also done sets, lights design & music composing of many plays & won many awards for the same. To induce & improve reading habit amongst children, he also published a half yearly children’s magazine – "Dhishyanav - Dhishyanav"on various topics for 10 years. This magazine became very popular amongst children & also bagged 12 awards at Mumbai zonal level.
